Everything you need to know about the Quatar 2022 World Cup: When is it held? The world cup 2022 was delayed because of covid-19 and was supposed to be held in the summer of this year. But covid restrictions have prevented Quatar from building and improving their stadiums, hospitalities, venues and more. The opening match will be played on November 20th, and the final will be played December 18th. Shortly after players will return to their club teams to resume regular season. Where will it take place?  This year's world cup will be held in multiple cities, all located in Quatar. Each venue is unique. The eight stadiums are the Khalifa stadium, one of Quatar's oldest stadiums. The Al-Janoub and Al-Thumama stadiums which are located near the East coast of Quatar.
